One of the 8 Million Stories

Well we made it! We arrived at the airport around 4:30, took a cab to our apartment and were met by Amy, a friend of the owners of the apartment. She showed us around and gave us the keys. It is an awfully cute apartment...very French feeling. It is decorated simply with great art. We will enjoy being here for the upcoming weeks.

H needed some canvases before her classes started, so with only an hour before closing, we quickly dropped our things and took the train down to Canal Street to Pearl Paint, a large red and white discounted art supply shop, where we hurriedly got what H needed. (On our way H saw a couple whom she had seen in the Atlanta airport. Small world.)

We got back to our apartment and then scrolled through Zagat's and Menupages.com for a place to eat dinner. We happened upon Bistro Milano which is right down the street. We got a table outside and both of us had pasta dishes. Then we walked up to Columbus Circle to the Whole Foods and bought a couple of things for breakfast tomorrow. The Whole Foods was pretty overwhelming.

Our walk along 59th Street smelled of horse manure because of the horse and buggies there at the park. It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer borrows his friend's horse and buggy and "Rusty," the horse, has some stomach issues. "RUSTYYYYY!"
Tomorrow will be a holiday. We have no plans yet.

  1. What a great adventure.....and what to have for breakfast....well that would HAVE to be grilled corn muffins....the breakfast of the 80's. I remember asking B when she and T were there for the year in the 80's if there was ever a day she didn't go out and do SOMETHING....and she said not one. I expect no less from the two of you 25 years later....
