Bastille Day Celebration!

We took the bus up to 69th and Madison to Hunter College this morning and went to Redeemer. It was pretty packed and Tim Keller wasn't even speaking. The crowd is very diverse with Asians making up a good portion. I noticed the young Asian woman sitting in front of me had a callous under the left side of her jaw...a violin player. The Asian woman behind me had a beautiful voice. Tim Keller often speaks of Redeemer being made up of the downtown artist sort as well as the Wall Street button-up sort and everything in between...a great diversity.

After Redeemer, we walked along Madison and decided just to stop off at a restaurant that looked good. We chose a little French bistro on 65th Street and had a light lunch.

We were able to sit outside on the sidewalk which was fun. A yellow van drove by with "Pet Chauffeur" written on the side. I could almost see Madeline in the back seat glance smugly in our direction as the van passed.

H. enjoyed her salad!

Happy Bastille Day!
As we made our way toward 60th Street, we saw the big Bastille Day celebration. There were all kinds of booths but mainly food booths serving crepes, macaroons, lemonade, lamb "hotdogs" and chocolates, just name a few.

We had just eaten but couldn't pass up the crepes. We ordered a crepe with Nutella, strawberries and powdered sugar.

It was pretty awesome.

After the Bastille celebration, we walked down to Grand Central Station to get a train to SoHo. When we entered the big hall, we both suddenly had a sinking feeling in our stomachs. There were lots of people gathered very quietly around a big TV screen. We thought something bad had happened. We walked over to see and (as you all probably figured out) it was the World Cup. We were relieved.

We did a few things in SoHo and then headed back to the apartment and did laundry. There are laundry facilities in our basement. It went pretty fast. We had no choice; we had run out of underwear.

And now, I'm calling it a night.
