911 Memorial

Wednesday my friends arrived.  We went to see Jersey Boys and then had dinner in the West Village at Buvette.  We closed the place down at midnight!  We had so much fun and Jersey Boys is such a toe-tappin' show...especially when the tickets were half price at TKTS!

Thursday morning we got up and headed down to the new September 11 Memorial.  The lines were pretty short and it is in a huge space so we moved very quickly.  The security was similar to airport security.  The memorial is stunning.  It is open and green with trees.  One tree, the Survivor Tree, the only tree that lived through the attack, is in green leaf.  You've never seen so many people taking pictures of trees!

We took the train back up to Chelsea and visited a lot of the galleries Tony and I had visited last week.  We walked along the High Line to Spice Market for lunch and then crammed in a few more galleries.  Late today we met one of my friend's friends who is here visiting her daughter.  We met at MoMA and then saw the Cindy Sherman exhibit.  Since we were still full from lunch we canceled our dinner reservations, walked around a little and then ended up at Todd English's Food Hall at the Plaza.  A fun day!

The above picture was taken on the High Line with the Empire State Building towering above the buildings of Chelsea.
