We Taste of Thee...

Sunday morning!  We woke up late to a pretty day with cool temperatures.  As the day wore on it got a little hotter but not anything like home.  We ate breakfast and then walked in the park.  The city is not crowded at all.  I suppose everyone left for Memorial Day Weekend.  It's nice.

Below is the reservoir with Mt Sinai on the horizon.

We made it back to the apartment, changed and headed out to MoMA to see the Cindy Sherman exhibit.  We had lunch first at the 5th Floor Terrace.  We had a nice conversation with a young French woman who was there alone, eating lunch and planning her day.  She was from Alsace and I think she enjoyed practicing her English with us.  We eked out a couple of Mercis and Bon Chances and that was the extent of our attempts at speaking French.

After viewing the Cindy Sherman, we sat in the sculpture garden for a while and made up stories about several of the couples we saw.  The world is full of interesting people.

We then walked back to the apartment, changed, and headed out to Redeemer on the UES.  We were glad to see that "Father" Tim was preaching.  As always, he was right on the mark.  He always gives us something to talk about and lots to think about.

We caught a cab and then headed to Buvette in the West Village, a restaurant I had read about in one of Martha Stewart Living magazines.  Since seeing it there, it has received quite a bit of press and they don't take reservations so I wasn't sure what the wait would be like.  We didn't have to wait long at all (since NO ONE is in this city for Memorial Day!)  We shared some grilled asparagus with a poached duck egg on top.  I could have just eaten that.  It was wonderful.  I then had the lamb with fava beans and Tony had baby back ribs with peas.  The portions were small so we split a chocolate dessert.

Then we headed uptown to check out the view from the top of the Empire Hotel.  It was sort of a bust so we left pretty quickly and walked home.  Passing Carnegie Hall, I saw that the Lang Lang concert on Tuesday night is sold out.  We had ordered tickets a few weeks ago.  Hopefully it will be good.

And now for a good night's sleep and another day.

"From the best bliss that earth imparts
We turned unfilled to thee again."
