Kara Walker's Sugar Baby

Domino Sugar Plant, Brooklyn

Kara Walker has created a sugar sculpture in the old Domino Sugar plant which is soon to be demolished.  The "sphinx" is an homage to the slave labor that brought sugar from the cane fields.
The photo above is primarily to show the inside of the plant and to illustrate the size of the sculpture.

We took the train to Beacon, New York, to visit Dia: Beacon.

A visit to The Met included a trip to the Roof Garden where we took great pictures of the fog over the city.

Here we are reflected in the windows of the Roof Garden!

We had to stop by Tony's favorite painting and say hello to Joan.

Conservatory Water in Central Park

We took the tram over to Roosevelt Island and strolled along the banks of the East River watching the  city lights slowly come on.  The picture below is a panoramic photo which is why it has a curved appearance.

The Williamsburg Bridge and the tram

This photo was taken from inside the tram as we approached the station at 2nd Avenue and 60th Street.

Walking home, we noticed how beautiful the Helmsley Building was all lit in blue!
